AFS-A22-1 G1/2” 24VDC Magnetic Water Hall Effect Flow Sensor for Water Pump

Before diving into the specifics of Hall Effect water flow sensors, it’s essential to understand the underlying principle – the Hall Effect. Named after physicist Edwin Hall, this phenomenon occurs when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the flow of electric current in a conductor. This results in the generation of a voltage perpendicular to both the current and the magnetic field.

Benefits:

  • High precision and accuracy
  • Wide range of applications
  • Minimal pressure drop
  • Low maintenance requirements
  • Compatibility with various fluids
  • Long lifespan

Production Description

Flow Sensor Working Principle

The Hall Effect water flow sensor leverages this principle to measure the flow of liquids accurately. It consists of a sensor body with a passage for fluid flow and a Hall Effect sensor element. As the fluid flows through the passage, it interacts with a magnetic field generated by a magnet inside the sensor. This interaction causes the Hall Effect sensor to produce a voltage output proportional to the flow rate. The greater the flow, the higher the voltage generated.

Basic Components:

1. Sensor Body

  • The main housing that holds the internal components and allows water to flow through it. It is often made from plastic or metal, depending on the application and environmental requirements.

2.Rotor (Turbine or Paddlewheel)

  • A small rotating element inside the sensor body that moves as water flows through the sensor. The rotor typically has embedded magnets that interact with the Hall sensor.

3.Magnet

  • Attached to the rotor, the magnet rotates with the rotor’s movement. Its magnetic field changes as the rotor spins, which is detected by the Hall sensor.

4.Hall Effect Sensor

  • A small electronic component that detects the changes in the magnetic field caused by the rotating magnet. It generates an electrical signal, typically in the form of a voltage or digital pulse, based on the speed of the rotor’s rotation.

5.Signal Output

  • This is the electrical output generated by the Hall sensor. It can be analog (a continuous voltage signal) or digital (pulses) and is used to calculate the water flow rate.

6.Electrical Wiring

  • The wires or connectors that link the Hall Effect sensor to an external system, such as a microcontroller or flow meter, to transmit the sensor’s output signal for further processing.

Types of Hall Effect Water Flow Sensors:

4.1. Analog Hall Effect Sensors

Analog Hall Effect water flow sensors provide a continuous voltage output that corresponds to the flow rate. They offer precise measurements and are commonly used in research and industrial applications.

4.2. Digital Hall Effect Sensors

Digital Hall Effect sensors provide discrete output signals, typically in the form of pulses. They are ideal for applications where digital data processing is required, such as in flow meters and water consumption monitoring systems.
