Surface Mounted Magnetic Reed Proximity Sensor Switch
Production Description
Operating Principle
When a magnetic field is brought near the reed switch, the reeds either come together (closing the circuit) or move apart (opening the circuit), depending on the switch type (normally open or normally closed).
Components
- Reed Switch: Two thin metal reeds sealed within a glass tube. They are normally open but come into contact when a magnetic field is present.
- Magnet: A magnet is typically used to create the magnetic field that triggers the reed switch.
- Housing: Protective casing that holds the reed switch and often provides mounting options.
Types
Normally Open (NO): The switch remains open until a magnetic field is applied.
Normally Closed (NC): The switch remains closed until a magnetic field is applied.
Form C(Changeover): A three-terminal device where one terminal is common, and the other two terminals switch between normally closed and normally open states.
